BEFORE THE FIRST DAY: The Full Story of the Earth's Creation    by Leander R. Pimenta

Among the scriptures relevant to the Earth’s creation which the book considers are the following:

Scripture Brief interpretation
2 Pet. 3:5 The Universe existed before the creation of the Earth.
Job 38.4:4-7 The foundations of the Earth were laid down as one would lay down the foundations for a large structure.
Job 38.4 The waters of the seas were once trapped below the Earth’s crust.
Ps. 24:2 The Earth’s original supercontinent was a late addition to an entirely water covered globe.
Gen. 1:2 Our planet was once completely dark and covered with water with no dry land anywhere.
Gen. 1:4 The light on the first day was not sunlight.
Gen. 1:6 A vast quantity of oceanic water was suddenly removed from our planet on the second day.
Gen. 1:9; Isa. 40:22 A near circular supercontinent (called Earth in the Bible) emerged from under the ocean on the third day.
Gen. 1:4 The Sun burst into activity giving heat and light on the fourth day.
Exod. 20:11 God worked on this planet for six days to transform it from a dark watery waste to one with life of all kinds.
Gen. 7:23 A global flood about 4,400 years ago wiped out the entire population of the Earth apart from Noah’s family.
Gen. 10:23 The near circular supercontinent broke up into continents within the last few thousand years.
Rev. 8:8 Asteroid bombardment and tidal waves will claim billions of lives in the last days.
Rev. 8:12 The Sun will become partially darkened and then overheat.
Rev. 16:17 Fearful earthquakes will cause great havoc in the end times.

SYNOPSIS

For centuries scientists have pondered over the problem of the origin of the Solar System and many theories have been proposed, but hitherto none of these have given satisfactory explanations of all the many puzzles about our Sun and the planets that revolve around it.

In this book the author postulates a theory that our Sun was once a binary star (like billions of other stars) which subsequently collapsed into a single star. The present Sun and the planets are the reorganised remnants of the immense cloud of gas and dust which was driven and directed outwards from the colliding bodies.

The book explains how the binary star was formed in the first place and explains the reasons why this binary star collapsed. The nature of the expanding gas and dust cloud that was formed is discussed in great detail and the book explains how this cloud subsequently cooled and contracted and thus sorted itself out first into rings of matter graded according to particle density which intertwined and wound up to form giant asteroids, moon-size planets and finally planets.

The book gives a consistent explanation for all the physical features we find on our planet at the present time and the reader should, after reading the book, understand why the Earth:
  • is two thirds covered with deep oceans.
  • has an atmosphere of nitrogen and oxygen.
  • has a binary companion called the Moon.
  • once had just one supercontinent which subsequently split up.
  • has a magnetic field which is rapidly weakening.
  • has such a huge variety of soils, rocks and minerals.
  • has an iron core.
  • has a basaltic lithosphere and a granitic continental crust.
  • has a low velocity asthenosphere.
  • has a vast amount of oil and coal reserves.
  • has deep sea trenches and oceanic ridges.

Panagaea The theory that is proposed should appeal not only to secular Earth scientists but also to Bible believers who have so far failed to come up with scientific explanations for global events mentioned in the Scriptures which have generally been ignored by the secular community. These events may be listed as follows:
  1. The Earth was recently covered entirely by water.
  2. The Sun began to radiate heat and light suddenly only about six thousand years ago.
  3. Dry land in the form of a near circular supercontinent appeared from under the sea within a single day.
  4. A Great Flood involving a global rainstorm and upheavals in the ocean bed submerged the supercontinent killing millions of people.
  5. The supercontinent became dry land again and split up within a few days into two separate land masses which subsequently split up again to form the present continents.
  6. The peril facing the Earth by small meteorites and giant asteroids capable of killing billions of people.
  7. The vagaries of the Sun which is predicted (by the Bible) to become unbearably hot and scorch the Earth.

While most of the book is about the Earth, all the other planets and their moons and rings are briefly discussed to reinforce the theory that is expounded. While Bible-believing scientists will be pleased to read that the events described in the Genesis account of creation are true and have a sound scientific basis, atheist Geologists and Evolutionists will find the book challenging and disturbing as it demonstrates that the Earth is very young and that the very foundations upon which the sister theories of evolution and uniformitarianism are based is highly suspect.
